Distances and Times for Rides.

Please note time is estimated and will be the average amount of time it will take depending on conditions , speed and snowmobiling experience. Distances are more exact and are done by using the trip-meter on my sled and following the designated routes. When planning on these trips you should always plan on them taking at least as long as estimated. Enjoy our trails and the beauty of Northern Ontario and thanks for staying at Puddingstone Place / St. Joseph Island.

Primeau Lake

Tree Line to Echo Bay by D106 > D-Line trunk trail - Primeau Lake                 60 Miles  - 3 Hours

Return - Primeau Lake > D106 trail>Bruce Mines(50 miles) >Tree Line to

HiltonBeach >D106  > Puddingstone Place                                                         69 Miles - 4 Hours

Comments: Nice day ride...at Primeau Lake there is a little "inn" where you can buy lunch...remember to take Canadian Money... no gas available from Echo Bay to Primeau  or back (42 miles one way) so I suggest you top up when you get to Echo Bay (40 minute ride) altho you won’t need much fuel..you may be surprised how reassuring it is to be full when you go back in the bush 42 miles or so..... directions to Primeau lake are marked by little blue signs , have to watch for these....also watch for signs saying Carpenter Lake (Cottages). Primeau is about 1 mile past Carpenter Lake. Detailed instruction sheet available.

Drummond Island

5th side rd>A line across Tenby Bay >tree-line to Drummond                          37 miles     1.5 hours

Return thru the Kaskawan >Puddingstone Place                                                 32 miles     1.25 hours

Comments: Nice ride... can vary the length greatly depending on how much site-seeing and touring you do...have to check in with customs upon arriving in Drummond..(actually it is only signing a book.. you don’t talk to anyone) And need to report back in when you arrive back in Canada there is a phone on the Canadian side.

Elliot Lake

Iron Bridge > D-Line > Thessalon >Tree-line                                                             53 Miles

Puddingstone Place to Elliot Lake thru Wharncliffe                                              120 Miles    5.25  hours

Total Times : Puddingstone to Elliot Lake  via Wharncliff                 120 miles        5 Hours

Elliot Lake > Puddingstone Place via Iron Bridge       95                     4 hours

Grand Total    215 miles        9 hours

Comments: The longest of the rides but worth it. If you go thru Wharncliff and follow the power line the scenery is breathtaking and the trails the same. The trails following the power line are very good ......scenic, up and down, twisty, straight, all types..just have to watch some of the corners....be prepared for some sharp corners around drop offs of 20' ++ and by the looks of some trails...a number of people have not negogiated them very well.. Altho shorter thru Thessalon and Iron Bridge not as scenic. (you can go to the power line thru Iron Bridge and save some time perhaps an hour or so)
